Congratulations to our MSMS student and teacher of the month!

Abigale Cathcart has been named MSMS Student of the Month and Dennis Reed has been honored as MSMS Teacher of the Month.

The prize is handed out by the MSMS chapter of the Future Educators of America.

MSMS faculty members submit students for the prize who they feel personify the MSMS ideals of Scholarship, Community, Service and Creativity. Once a month, two students' names are drawn and they are honored with the title of MSMS Student of the Month.

The students honored are then tasked with selecting the MSMS teacher of the month. The student winners each receive both the honor of the title and a gift certificate to Pizza Hut. Teachers who win the title get a gift certificate to the Country Kitchen - a Columbus restaurant.

Cathcart, a senior, hails from Starkville she is the daughter of Tom Cathcart and Karen Koch.

Reed teaches in the physics department at MSMS.

Last month's Student of the Month was Ari Esters, a senior from Greenville. The Teacher of the Month was Dr. Marlies Bearden.

Esters is the son of Bridgette Esters Gandy.

Bearden teaches in the mathematics department.
